Access to transportation is a pivotal piece for individuals to be connected to their essential services. However, many feel unsafe leaving their homes during this time. In order to provide our customers with access to their essential needs, Ride Connection has implemented the following services and practices during the pandemic.

Providing Rides

Providing rides is at the core of what we do. These services haven't stopped although they look a little different during the pandemic.

Ride Connection is connecting customers to hunger relief services like the grocery store, to life-sustaining medical appointments like dialysis and cancer treatments and to other social services needed.

We are also transporting customers to COVID-19 vaccination sites throughout the region.

Delivering Food Boxes

Ride Connection has teamed up with Food Pantries to deliver customers healthy groceries. Customers can sign up to receive free food boxes. Currently delivery is taking place Monday through Friday in Multnomah and Washington counties.

To coordinate food delivery, contact our partners at Oregon Food Bank: 503.505.7061.

Safety Protocols

All our vehicles and drivers follow CDC protocols for COVID safe practices. Including:

  • Wellness Calls Pre-Trip with all Door to Door Customers
  • Wipe down of all high-touch points in each vehicle between each rider
  • Every vehicle is fogged with disinfectant three times per week
  • Masks are required; masks and hand sanitizer are available to each rider if they don't have their own
  • No shared rides on sedans and vans and limit of four customers on 12 and 14-passenger busses

Since many of our customers aren't leaving their homes, we are calling them with a quick hello and making sure they are doing well. We understand that many of our customers live in social isolation and their normal Ride Connection ride might have been their only social interaction for the day.

We want to make sure they still have a connection.
