COVID-19 Relief Services

With the ongoing pandemic of COVID-19, Ride Connection continues to serve older adults and people with disabilities by connecting them to the essential services they need to survive. Here's how we are working to continue to safely serve customers.

As the coronavirus pandemic has grown the city of Portland and beyond has responded quickly to enact safety measures to prevent continued spreading of the virus. Ride Connection has diligently been following the guidance of our local government and the CDC. The safety of our customers, volunteers and staff have continued to be our main priority.

Access to transportation is a pivotal piece for individuals to be connected to their essential services. However, many feel unsafe leaving their homes during this time. In order to provide our customers with access to their essential needs, Ride Connection has implemented the following services and practices during the pandemic.

Providing Rides

Providing rides is at the core of what we do. These services haven't stopped although they look a little different during the pandemic.

Ride Connection is connecting customers to hunger relief services like the grocery store, to life-sustaining medical appointments like dialysis and cancer treatments and to other social services needed.

We have created temporary modifications to our services. For up to date service information visit our COVID-19 Updates page here.

Delivering Food Boxes

Ride Connection has teamed up with Food Pantries to deliver customers healthy groceries. Customers can sign up to receive free food boxes. Currently delivery is taking place Wednesday and Friday in Multnomah County and Monday through Friday in Washington County.

To coordinate food delivery, contact our partners at Oregon Food Bank: 503.505.7061.

Making Wellness Checks

Since many of our customers aren't leaving their homes, we are calling them with a quick hello and making sure they are doing well. We understand that many of our customers live in social isolation and their normal Ride Connection ride might have been their only social interaction for the day.

We want to make sure they still have a connection.

With the support of so many, Ride Connection has been able to continue to provide these vital services to keep our most vulnerable population safe, connected and healthy.
