Volunteer to be a Food Box Delivery Driver
Ride Connection is now offering food box delivery to individuals and families in need across Washington and Multnomah County. Partnering with local food pantries and the Oregon Food Bank, we are working to provide nutritious groceries straight to peoples doorsteps. Our contactless delivery operation is growing and we are looking for caring and attentive volunteer drivers to join the effort. We have implemented rigorous safety protocols and are keeping up to date with the latest guidelines from the Oregon Health Authority. Volunteers are actively trained on proper PPE use and implementation; and they have access to materials to safely perform their duties.
Time Commitment
We prefer that you are available to drive at least one hour per week. Our typical hours of operation are between 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday. You can dictate your schedule within these hours and we will work around it. A transportation coordinator will contact you weekly to make requests.
Location
You can choose where you would like to drive and deliver. Some people choose to deliver in their own neighborhood while some volunteers are comfortable driving in all areas of Multnomah and Washington County.
Requirements
Each volunteer driver must:
-
Have had their driver’s license for 5 years or longer
-
Pass a criminal background and DMV check
-
Complete driver training courses (available in online classes)
-
Able to lift food boxes weighing up to 30lbs
